Isobel Smith, Artistic Director of Grist to the Mill, is a skilled puppeteer, artist and course leader, she studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Central Saint Martins (BA) and Fine Art at the University of Brighton (Post Grad. Dip) and is a graduate of the Green Ginger ‘Toastie’ scheme. (Featured in Animations Online 30)
Isobel is a regular contributor and reviewer for Puppet Centre’s Animations Online Magazine

Christina the Astonishing‘, a collaboration with The Baron Gilvan, combines puppetry and animation and was begun in Little Angel’s INCUBATE program, it was developed with Arts Council Funding. Premiered at London’s SUSPENSE Puppetry Festival, Oct 2013.

Gala, Puppet Opera setIsobel Smith Designed and Directed Puppetry for Puppet Centre/Tete a Tete’s opera by Ergo Phizmiz: ‘Gala’ (Salvador Dali’s wife) at Riverside, London. Summer 2013.

Grist to the Mill was Resident Puppet Company at The Nuffield Theatre, Southampton (2012-2013), a one year puppetry residency offered in collaboration with Puppet Centre, London.
